God swears by the Angels

Introduction surah

Surah An-Naziat is the 79th surah in the Qur’an. This surah is a surah Mecca the dominant content is the faith and beliefs of a Muslim. Name An-Naziat taken from the beginning of this letter, which means, “The angel who plucks the soul violently.”

This Surah has several main themes.

First, explanation of some angels and the tasks they carry out.

Second, explain the condition of polytheists who deny the Day of Judgment.

Third, tells the story of Pharaoh during the time of the Prophet Moses, where Pharaoh arrogantly claimed to be God, then Allah destroyed him by drowning him in the ocean.

Fourth, tells about the arrogance of the Mecca polytheists who opposed the Prophet’s preaching.

Fifth, closed with the explanation that the end of the world will come, but no one knows when it will come.

Interpretation of the letter An-Nazi’at

Allah Subhanahu Ta’ala said,

And they drowned

“By (angel) who takes (the lives of unbelievers) hard.” (QS. An-Nāzi’āt [79]: 1)

God swears by the name of an angel An-Naziat. They are angels who take the lives of unbelievers with harsh and harsh extractions. As a reward for their evil in the world who disobey Allah. The beginning of the death of an unbeliever is already so terrible, let alone the life after that. (Shofwatut Tafasir, matter. 488)

When the angels were about to take the lives of unbelievers, they said, “Come out, O rotten soul, which is in a bad body, come out to the anger of Allah.” When they are called that way, their spirits refuse, they are very afraid, they hold on tightly to their bodies, making it difficult to pull them away. So the angel pulled them hard and roughly so they could be released, until the bodies were almost torn, torn and split because of it from the power of attraction. (Tafsir Juz Amma Syekh Utsaimin, matter. 29)

Allah Subhanahu Ta’ala said,

And an active one

“For (angels) who take (the lives of believers) with gentleness.” (QS. An-Nāzi’āt [79]:2)

An-Nasyithoh is an angel who takes the lives of believers gently and carefully.

When these angels were about to take the life of a believer, they conveyed the good news, “O good soul, in a good body, come out to the pleasure of Allah. Drug.“The soul of the believer welcomes it with joy, so it easily comes out of the body. (Tafsir Juz Amma Syekh Utsaimin, matter. 29)

In the hadith from ‘Aisyah it is stated that the Messenger of Allah sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said,

Whoever is happy to meet God, then God will be happy to meet him, and whoever hates to meet God, then God hates to meet him. So I said, O Prophet of Allah, hate death, because we all hate death. He said, “Not so, but when a believer is given good news about Allah’s mercy, His blessing, and heaven. He is happy to meet Allah, then Allah is happy to meet Him. And when a disbeliever is given good news about Allah’s punishment and wrath, then he hates meeting Allah and He hates him. May Allah meet him

“Whoever likes to meet Allah, then Allah also likes to meet him. On the other hand, whoever hates to meet Allah, then Allah also hates to meet him.”

Cash ‘Aisyah said, “What is meant by hating death, O Prophet of Allah? Of course we are all afraid of death.”

Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam then said, “That’s not what it means. But the real meaning is that if a believer is given good news about His mercy, pleasure and heaven, he is happy to meet God, then God is happy to meet Him. (HR. Muslim no. 2685)

A believer must long for and be happy about his meeting with God, and the first door to that meeting is death. With his happiness in meeting God, bringing pious deeds, the angels easily took his life.

Allah Subhanahu Ta’ala said,

And whoever praises Allah, praise Him

“For those (angels) who quickly (complete their tasks) easily.” (QS. An-Nāzi’āt [79]:3)

Angels who descend from the sky bring orders from Allah. Allah gave angels enormous power to carry out these commands, so that they could carry them out well.

In the Tafsir Juz Amma, Sheikh Utsaimin God bless explains that angels are creatures of Allah whose power is very great, far greater than the power of jinn, then the power of genies is greater than humans.

In the incident of Prophet Solomon ‘alaihissalam asked to bring the throne of Queen Balqis (or Bilqis) from the land of Yemen to the land of Syria, which is more than 2000 kilometers away, one opinion says that the person who moved the throne was before Prophet Solomon. ‘alaihissalam blinking his eyes is an angel that Allah assigned and gave him the strength to be able to move that fast. (Tafsir Juz Amma Syekh Utsmainin, matter. 30)

This, and various other incidents show that Allah gives extraordinary powers to angels. However, do not forget that the owner of true strength and power is only Allah; all creatures cannot do anything, even just blink their eyes, except with permission from Allah.

Allah Subhanahu Ta’ala said,

What comes first is what comes first

“(Angels) who rush (carry out God’s orders) quickly.” (QS. An-Nāzi’āt [79]:4)

One opinion states that what is meant here is an angel who quickly carries the souls of Muslims to heaven. (Shofwatut Tafasir, matter. 488)

Allah Subhanahu Ta’ala said,

So people organizing things is a problem

“And (angels) who regulate (world) affairs.” (QS. An-Nāzi’āt [79]:5)

Allah swears by the angels who have the task of managing various world affairs and heavenly affairs, such as managing the affairs of the spirit, rain, sustenance, recording deeds, and other than these things. Among the angels who carry out very important tasks are the angel Gabriel who brings revelation, the angel Mikail who is in charge of controlling the rain and trees, the angel Malik who guards hell, the angel Ridwan who guards heaven, and other angels.

Allah Drug swear from the first verse to the fifth verse with the angels. In cursing there are things that are used for cursing that are mentioned I will be a man and there are things that are confirmed by the oath which are called muqsam ‘alaih. It’s like someone swearing, “By Allah, tomorrow I will pay your debt”; then the word “Allah” is I will be a man which is used for swearing, and the words “I pay your debt tomorrow” are muqsam ‘alaih.

In the first to fifth verses of Surah An-Naziat, Allah only mentions I will be a man just, without mentioning muqsam ‘alaih or things that must be confirmed by oath. The scholars then looked for what muqsam ‘alaih what God wants. They interpret that muqsam ‘alaihhis is “That the Day of Judgment will definitely come.” So the completeness of Allah’s oath is, “By the angels who have various privileges, the doomsday will surely come to you.” (Al-Mukhtashor fi At-Tafsir, matter. 583)
