When prostration the forehead is blocked by the mukena

Regarding the mukena which is spread out so that it blocks the face when prostrating, this is disputed by the Fuqaha.

According to the majority of scholars, it is makruh because it blocks the nose and forehead. But the prayer is still valid.

Meanwhile, the Shafi’i school of thought says this is invalid.

Imam An Nawawi explained:

A branch of the doctrine of the ulama regarding prostration of the arms, tail, hands, inside the turban, and other things related to them. We have already mentioned that our doctrine is that it is not valid for him to prostrate above all that, and this is what Dawud and Ahmad said in one narration, and Malik, Abu Hanifa, Al-Awza’i, Ishaq and Ahmad said, in another narration: Yes, the author of Al-Tahthib said: and this is what the majority of the scholars said. I’m done

Detailed explanations of various Islamic schools of thought regarding prostration at the sleeves, ends, hands, and circles of his turban and other things related to him. We have already mentioned that our school (Shafi’i) says: It is NOT VALID for him to prostrate on one of them, and this is also said by Dawud and Ahmad in one narration.

Meanwhile Malik, Abu Hanifah, Al-Auza’i, Ishaq and Ahmad in another history said: SAH. Author Al-Tahdzib said: This is the opinion of the majority of scholars. Finished.

So, try to make sure that when you prostrate, your forehead and nose are directly in contact with the place of prostration, don’t let it be blocked by your mukena, cap, hair or the clothes you wear.
