The color of the Prophet’s favorite clothes

Clothing is one of the basic human needs. Clothing is always used for various purposes, ranging from covering genitals, protecting the body, to decorating. As humans generally like clothes, the Messenger of Allah also likes certain types of clothing. The Messenger of Allah also has the most preferred color of clothing and encourages friends to use the colors.

Before we discuss the color of the Prophet’s favorite clothes, we will discuss the manners of the dress. In general, all types of clothing that are not prohibited by sharia can be billed, as in the Prophet’s hadith sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam,

Eat, drink, dress, and believe, in other words, no imagination

“Eating, drinking, dressing, and giving alms without advantages and without pride.” (Hours. Bukhari)

As for some of the provisions that must be considered about clothing are:

Cover the genitals

The clothes used must include the genitals, as God said Tap,

He builds blood, takes your jewelry in every mosque, eating, and drinking, and does not see you.

“O Adam’s children, wear beautiful clothes in every mosque (enter), eat and drink, and do not overdo it. (Surah Al-A’raf: 31)

Also the word of God Tap,

O Prophet, tell your wife and daughter

“O Prophet, say to your wives, your daughters, and wives of believers, should they hold their veils throughout their bodies!” (Surah Al-Ahzab: 59)

Not made of silk for men

Men’s clothing cannot be made of silk, as told by the hadith by Umar bin al-Khattab said by the Prophet,

Don’t use silk, for anyone who uses it in the world does not use it in the hereafter

“Don’t use silk! Anyone who uses it in the world, won’t use it in the afterlife.” (Hours. Bukhari)

Not resembling unbelievers

A Muslim cannot follow things that are characteristics of people who do not believe. Like in the hadith, the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam say,

What resembles people is one of them

“Whoever resembles a people, so it becomes part of them.” (HR. Abu Dawud)

Resembling here is also included in dressing. Cannot wear clothes that are special features from people who do not believe.

Prophet’s clothes

In general, Rasulullah’s clothing was a clothes commonly used by Arabs at that time. Like Buluh, He uses Imamat, and besides.

The most preferred color of the prophet’s clothes

The color of the clothes used by the Prophet varies. However, there is a color that he likes the most. The color of the clothes most liked by the Prophet is white. This is as in the hadith,

You have vaginal discharge, so let you stay with you, and your dead sheath, because it is the best of your clothes

“Let you wear a white shirt. Because the person who lives among you uses it and the person who dies from you is dikfagi with it. Indeed it is your best clothes.” (HR. Tirmidzi)

In the hadith, the Prophet ordered his friends to wear white clothes. The orders here are arranged and encouraged to our friends and we as followers to use White. Then, why white? Is there a special reason? The answer is in the hadith, the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam say,

The dress is from your clothes, so it’s purified, and I’m cursed, and they are enough in it.

“Wear your white clothes. This is indeed the cleanest and best clothes. People who die between you and white cloth.” (Tirmidzi Clock)

The hadith above shows the reason why the white shirt is better. White clothes are better because the clothes are the cleanest and best.

Why is the white shirt the cleanest and the best? That is because when there is dirt attached to the white shirt, the dirt will be very visible. When we wash the clothes, it will be clear whether the dirt that sticks is still there or not.

Different when we use other colored clothes that sometimes dirt disguised with the color of the clothes. So that the white shirt will be cleaner and better because the dirt that sticks is very visible so that the user will always pay attention to cleanliness.

The white color is also the color chosen in prayer to eliminate the mistakes depicted with dirt.

Oh God, destroy me from my sin -dose, just like white clothes purified from the definition

“Oh my God, clean me from my mistakes when cleaning white clothes from the ground.” (Muttafaqun ‘alaih)

Use other than white

If we pay attention to the previous hadith, we will find that the Messenger of Allah ordered the companions to wear white clothes. Then, is using a white color to be a must for a Muslim? The answer is of course not. We can know this from the actions of the Prophet himself. Rasulullah sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam Sometimes wearing clothes other than white. We can find this in several hadiths.

He wears a red shirt in the hadith narrated by al-Bara ‘bin Azib Radiyallahu ‘anhu. He said,

I haven’t seen the time in the red solution better than God’s messenger, may God assume it

“I have never seen anyone who has hair to the shoulder, wearing red clothes, which is more handsome than the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. “(Tirmidzi Clock)

He sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam Also usually wearing green clothes like in the hadith,

I see God’s messengers, may God give him up and give him peace

“I’ve seen the Messenger of Allah sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallamAnd he wore two sheets of green linen. “(HR. Tirmidzi)

Also there are many other traditions that mention the color of the Prophet’s clothing besides white. So we can know that wearing white clothes is not mandatory. However, the Prophet encouraged us all to use it because it was the cleanest and best color of clothes.
