Wa’alaikumussalam wa Rahmatullah..
The scholars of the caliphate. There are also those who still recommend raising your hands and affirming, as is the opinion of Syafi’iyyah, as do Imam Al Bukhari, Shaykh Al Qaradawi, and others.
In the Sahih BukhariAnas bin Malik Radhiallahu ‘Anhu it says:
A Bedouin Arab man came to the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and give him peace, on Friday and said, “O Messenger of Allah, the livestock have perished. Families are perishing, the people are perishing. Then the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and give him peace, raised his hands to pray, and the people raised their hands with him to pray.
“A man from the interior of Arabia, a Bedouin resident, came to Rasulullah SAW, on Friday. He said: “O Rasulullah, our livestock has been destroyed, as have our families and people.” raised both handshe prayed, and the people raised their hands with him and prayed.(HR. Bukhari No. 983)
The hadith above occurred when the Prophet Shallallahu ‘Alaihi wa Sallam during the Friday sermon.
In this hadith it can be interpreted that raising both hands when praying istisqa is sunnah and was exemplified by the prophet, then followed by humans at that time by also raising their hands, but it can also be interpreted that this happens generally and absolutelylike going to pious people or scholars to pray for people about their wishes, because in this story there is no evidence that shows that the ability to raise both hands is specifically for istisqa’.
Meanwhile, some scholars state that raising their hands high in prayer is only specifically for istisqa’. Meanwhile, Imam Bukhari used this hadith as a proof that raising both hands when praying is ABSOLUTE in any prayer and at any time.
Sheikh Abdurrahman Al Mubarkafuri Rahimahullah said about the above hadith:
They say that this noun is like this, although it is present in prayers asking for rain, but not specifically for that, and therefore Al-Bukhari uses it as a proof in the Book of Prayer With this hadith About the permissibility of raising hands in public prayer
“They say that raising hands like this occurs during istisqa prayer, However, this hadith does not specify it. Therefore, Imam Bukhari argued with this hadith in the book Ad Dakwah about the ability to raise both hands absolutely (in general) when praying.” (Tuhfah Al Ahwadzi, 2/201-202. Cet. 2. Maktabah As Salafiyah, Madinah Al Munawarah)
Al Qadhi ‘Iyadh said that some Salaf and some Malikiyah may raise both hands. The reason is that the Prophet once in his Friday sermon raised both hands, at that time he prayed for rain. (Al Minhaj Sharh Sahih Muslim, 6/162)
There are also those who choose not, but insist without raising their hands and that is the opinion of Hambaliyah, Saudi clerics and their followers, including in Indonesia.
So, don’t think that our brothers are wrong and stupid who raise both hands when saying the preacher’s prayer. Don’t let us become “fiqh shock” just because we read a fatwa and then don’t want to look at the opinions and arguments of other scholars. He considered the ulama to be only those he knew and read.
Thus. God bless
