Lust: The most difficult test for men

Behind Saleh’s face, behind memorizing verses and hadith, great tests that keep coming to: orgasm. Comes not to know time, do not know age, also do not know the level of faith. How many men are trapped in the sorry cycle and repeat the same sin, then ask in his heart:

“Why is this test so difficult for me to leave?”

Not a few who have tried various ways: Cold shower, sunnah fasting, avoiding social media, leaving bad friends, but lust still comes seductive in a new form. In fact, the greater the effort to fight it, sometimes the greater the impulse that arises from within. A question was published in the mind: Why did God created this push so strong in men?

This paper is not to judge anyone. Conversely, this is an invitation to reflect on the big wisdom hidden behind the creation of lust. Not to be eliminated, not to be extinguished, but to be controlled and directed. Herein lies the true test – an inner struggle that can actually be a path to God’s pleasure.

Lust is fitrah, not a disgrace

One of the big mistakes in understanding lust is to consider it as a disgrace. Many men who feel sinful just because they have sexual drive, even though lust is part of human nature. Even the Prophet ﷺ himself stated that among the things he loved in the world was women and fragrances, while the conditioning of his eyes was prayer.

Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam say,

Women and women both love me from the world, and my eyes are made in prayer

“Given to me from the world is easy for women and perfume, and that is me who is sincere (my heart).” (Name owned, 7: 61 no. 3939)

Men who have lust is not a despicable person. He is actually carrying important provisions in building families and continuing offspring. Without lust, marriage becomes empty, and the household loses the spirit of warmth. Islam never forbids feelings, but instead directs it to the right place.

As Adam and Eve were tested in heaven with a prohibition of approaching certain trees, as well as humans were tested today not to approach the things that closer to adultery. The prohibition in Islam is not only in the act of adultery, but also all the ways that can deliver it. Allah Story Berifrman,

And don’t approach adulterers.

“And do not approach adultery, in fact adultery is a heinous act. And a bad path.” (Surah Al-Isra ‘: 32)

So understanding that lust is fitrah is the first step to react to it wisely. We do not need to be ashamed to have it, but also not allowed to let it wild uncontrollably. Lust is a double -edged sword – can be a big reward, can also be a wretched path.

Lust is neutral, we are the one who directs

God created lust in a neutral condition, not good and not bad. What determines the value is how we use it. When directed to the halal, it becomes worship. But if it is channeled to the haram, it turns into a sin that can drag humans into the abyss of humiliation.

Prophet ﷺ even mentioned that the relationship between husband and wife carried out with the right intention was alms. Friends are astonished, how is it possible to meet lust to reward? Rasulullah ﷺ answered with very clear logic,

You see if he put it in the forbidden ones, and he is overwhelmed by butter, so if he put it in a sweet taste, then he has a gift for him

“Did you know that if someone fills an orgasm in the illegal, he sin. Likewise, if he fills his orgasm in legal things, he will be respected.” (HR. Muslim no. 2376)

This statement shows how Islam does not fight sexual drive, but places it in an honorable place. This is the beauty of the Shari’a: not curbing, but giving direction. Every time a husband approaches his wife with good intentions, he not only satisfies himself, but also saves merit.

But on the contrary, if lust is not controlled, it will definitely lead to a disaster. How many households were destroyed by infidelity. How many children were born without a father because of adultery. How many hearts were destroyed by the lust that was not restrained. So control lust, because lust can be a staircase of heaven or the path to hell.

The environment determines, the choice remains in our hands

This era presents many triggers of lust: advertising, social media, films, music, and even daily conversations. Every day, our eyes and ears are filled with things that arouse lust. Unwittingly, the slander enters slowly into the heart, imprints and blackens the light of faith.

From Hudzaifah Radhiallahu ‘anhu,

Both of them are served to the heart, like the pursuit of hearts that deny it, we have white crying, up to two hearts lifted: for the same number of truth, so it’s the same, so it’s the same. As long as heaven and earth, and others are the supply of liver, like the cruis he passed.

“Fitnah slander in the hearts of humans is a bit like the weaving., (HR. Muslim no. 144; Ahmad, 5: 405; Sahih)

Prophet ﷺ likens the heart that is affected by slander like a vessel. Some remain pure white because they always refuse slander, and some are black upside down, can no longer accept goodness, only obey what is in accordance with lust. This is the result of continuing to follow lust without effort to fight.

However, no matter how bad the environment, the choice remains in our hands. We can choose to maintain our views, hold orally, and avoid the association that closer to immorality. It’s not easy indeed, but every smallest effort on this road, very meaningful in the sight of Allah Tax.

As someone has not become a addict since the first day, as well as glory is not achieved in an instant. The process of subdue lust is a long jihad. Maybe we will fall repeatedly, but as long as we rise and return to God Tap, then hope is always open, Willing God.

Make lust as a path to heaven

The man who managed to subdue his lust was a true hero. Not a hero on the battlefield, but a hero in the Soul Medan. He is the one who is patient waiting for the halal, who takes care of himself from haram, who makes the passions as a servant, not a master. He knows that God is testing him to give a higher degree.

When God tested with something, it was not to torture, but to strengthen. The lust test is the way of God to educate men to become a formidable leader, a responsible husband, and a devout servant. The greater the test, the greater the potential of reward and closeness to God.

The lust that is directed into marriage is a source of calm. In fact, when not able to get married, the Prophet ﷺ taught the solution, namely fasting. Fasting is also a means of weakening the impulses of lust and strengthens closeness with God Tax.

Rasulullah Sallalahu ‘alaihi wa sallam say,

And anyone who can’t do it with fasting, then he ends.

“Anyone who can’t get married, then satisfied, because fasting is like a cure for him. “(Hours. Bukhari no. 5065 and Muslim no. 1400, from Abdullah bin Mas’ud Radhiallahu ‘anhu)

Finally, we realize that the purpose of life is not eliminating lust, but controls it in order to achieve God’s pleasure. This is the way for the prophets, para Shalihin, And this is our way. If we are patient in holding the haram, God will give more than we think in the world and the hereafter.
