Arabic beliefs and religions

After discussing the political situation of the Arabs, now we will explore their beliefs and forms of worship before the arrival of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. This is an important phase in history, because this is where the roots of the deviation of the creed spread in the Arabian peninsula.

The remnants of monotheism after the Prophet Isma’il

The majority of the Arab population in the lifetime of the Prophet Isma’il Alaihissalām Follow the sermon. Prophet Ismail called to follow his father’s religion, Abraham Alaihissalām. His religion worships God, making it, and Abraham’s religion (monotheism). After a long time, Arabs forgot the teachings of Abraham and left the teachings of monotheism and some of Abraham’s religion.

After that, the time of Amr bin Luhay came (Amr bin lahi), A leader of the Khuzā’ah tribe. AMR grows in a good environment. It is a person who likes to give alms and enthusiasm in religious matters. Finally, people love him and obey him because he considers him as a great scholar and a noble guardian.

The beginning of shirk: the influence of Amr bin Luhay

At one time, Amr bin Luhay traveled to the Sham area. There, he saw people who worship idols. Amr considers the actions of these people well and think it is truth. He reasoned that Syam was the place where the prophets were expressed and he revealed the Samawi books. As a result, it even brought an idol of the hubal (Hubble) to Mecca and put it in the Kaaba. He invited Mecca to get along with God and the community accepted his request.

The oldest idol of permanent is the heart (Manna) Located in Musyallal (Blind) on the coast of the Red Sea close to Qudaid (Quda). Then they made Lat idols (Lat) In Thaif (Taif)Then ‘Uzza (Azza) At Wadi Nakhlah (Palm Valley). These are the three biggest idols of the Arab population. Then the problem and idol are in every place in Hijaz.

It is said that Amr bin Luhai has qarin from the jinn who reported it that the idols of the Prophet Noah, namely Wad (friendship)Water ‘ (Sauce)Yaghuts (Glorified)Ya’uq (Deliver)Nasr (Eagle) Hidden in Jeddah (grandma). AMR went there, and dug and took it, then brought idols to Tihamah (Tihama). When the pilgrimage season arrives, he gives idols to the tribes. Finally, every family brings idols to their respective regions. Thus, each tribe has idols, and even every house has idols in it.

Mecca people filled the holy mosque with idols. It is said that when the Prophet conquered the city of Mecca, around the Kaaba there were 360 idols. Then the idols were destroyed, and expelled from the Sacred Mosque area to be burned. Thus, idoling and worship of idols becomes a major phenomenon in the religion of the ignorance, which they are surprised is the religion of Abraham.

Tradition of idol worship rituals

Jahiliah Arab residents have traditions and idols of idol worship, the majority of which are held by Amr Bin Luhay. The community thinks the things that were held by Amr Bin Luhay were good innovations and did not change the religion of the Prophet Ibrahim.

Among their idol worship rituals are they stay on the idols and take refuge in him, call him, asking for help from him in a difficult time, and praying to him to meet their needs. They believe that idols can be intermediaries to God and realize their desires. They also pilgrimage to idols, surround him, humble themselves on the sides of idols, and prostrate to idols.

Another ritual is that they draw closer to idols with various types of sacrifices. They slaughtered well in a way Dzabh (slaughter by cutting off the veins of the neck) or Nar (Slaughtering by piercing the base of the camel’s neck) to the idol and mentioning idols. This is the type of massacre that Allah said Ta’ala In al-quur’an,

And what is slaughtered in the text

“And (don’t eat) what is slaughtered for idols.” (Surah Al-Ma’idah: 3)

Among the rituals of the self-approach to the idols they do is they specialize in foods and drinks for idols as they want. Likewise they specialize in some of their harvests and livestock to idols. Miraculously, they also specialize in parts for God; But for many other reasons, they moved parts for God to idols. Strangely, they have never moved parts for idols to God in any condition. Allah Ta’ala said,

And make God from what he dies for plowing and disaster as a part, so they say this to God with their claims, and this is for our partner, so what is God’s blessing, and for God’s blessing it reaches their part, worsening what they value

“And they provide some plants and animals for God, saying according to their minds,” this is for God and this is for our idols. “The part of their idols will not reach God, and the part for God will achieve their idols. (Surah Al-An’am: 136)

Among their forms of approach to idols is to swear in harvest and livestock. Lord Ta’ala Welcome to the Qur’an,

And they say this is livestock and stones that flow only that they make them with their claims, and livestock are prohibited by their appearance

“And they say (according to their assumptions),” this is livestock and land that cannot be eaten, except for those we will do. “And there are also animals that are prohibited (unstable), and there are livestock (when slaughtered) may not mention the name of God, it is a lie to God. (Surah Al-An’am: 138)

Term Sa’ibah, Bahirah, Washilah, And Protector

They also set the requirements Sa’ibah (LAYAT), Head (Lake), Washilah (Willie), And Protector (Proven).

Sa’ibah is a female camel who has given birth to ten female camels and is not disturbed by male camels. After a camel gave birth to ten female camels, it was made Sa’ibah (left free). Sa’ibah It cannot be shaved, shaved feathers, and milk is taken except by the guests. If she gives birth to a female camel again, then the eleventh child is divided into her ears and is also free like her parents. This is what is called Bahirah.

Washilah is a female goat who has given birth to ten female children in a row without interspersed with male children in five births. They stated, “The goat has been connected”, then called Washilah. The rules, if the status of the goat has become Washilah, That afternoon was owned by a man. Women can’t have it. Only, if the child dies, then it can be eaten by men and women.

Protector is a male camel who has cut the female camels and then gives birth to ten female camels in a row without interspersed with male camels. So his back is maintained, may not be ridden, his fur should not be shaved, and he is left free between his flock to be able to marry other camels. It can only be used for this.

This is one of the interpretations of the meaning of Sa’ibah, Bahirah, Washilah, And Hami. Associated with Sa’ibah, Bahirah, Washilah, And Hami, Allah Ta’ala said,

What God has made from the lake, no bulk, or way, or welds, but those who are not confident, and they will not be overwhelmed by God.

“God never runs away Bahīrah, Sā’ibah, Washīlah, or HOUSE; But people who do not believe make falseness towards God, and most of them do not understand. “(Surah Al-Ma’idah: 103)

The Arab population performs all of these rituals for their idols because they believe that the idols can bring them closer to God and provide intercession in the sight of Allah. This is like the word of God Ta’ala,

And they worship without God what they do

“And they worship besides God, something that cannot be harmed also does not benefit. And they say, ‘They are our inter -meditation before God.'” (QS. Junus: 18)

How far from the stupid society deviates from the teachings of the Prophet Ibrahim Alaihissalām. Not only every house has idols, but all aspects of their lives are filled with deviations. However, this idol worship ritual is only one of their forms of error. There are still other deviations that we will discuss in the next article, Willing God.
