Friday Sermon Text: Immorality Destroys Honor

First sermon

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

May God’s peace, blessings and mercy be with you

Indeed, all praise is due to Allah, we praise Him, we ask for His help and forgiveness, and we seek refuge in Allah from our own evil and from the evil of our deeds guided by Allah. No one can lead him astray, and whoever leads him astray, there is no guidance for him.

I testify that there is no god worthy of worship except Allah SWT, there is no partner for Him, and I testify that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, and there is no prophet after him.

O Allah, bless your chosen Prophet, his family, his companions, and those who follow them in goodness until the Day of Judgment.

Allah SWT says in His Holy Book

O you who believe, fear Allah as they should be feared, and do not die except as Muslims

O people, fear your Lord who created you from one soul, and created from it soul mates, and scattered from them many men and women, and fear Allah for whom you ask, and your womb. Indeed, Allah is the Watcher over you.

O you who believe, fear Allah and speak good words, which will make your deeds good and forgive your sins. And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger, he will achieve a great victory.

Congregants, may Allah bless you!

All praises be to Allah Story who has covered our disgrace and made us His faithful servants. Be grateful for the blessings of faith by sticking to Islam. Allah Story said,

So hold fast to what has been revealed to you.

“So hold fast to the religion that was revealed to you.” (QS. Az-Zukhruf: 43)

So, this is the essence of piety that must be conveyed in every Friday sermon. We all have to stick to Islam until death beckons us. And we cannot carry out all that obedience, except because Allah has sent His great Messenger, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Pray for him, surely Allah will reward us 10x for all of us.

Glory depends on the level of piety

Know that among the effects of immorality is the destruction of a person’s honor. Ibnul Qayyim God bless collected the effects of disobedience in his book, Ada-Ilowes is an Ad-I announcement (Diseases and their cure). One of the bad effects of immorality is that a person’s honor will be destroyed before Allah ﷻ, even before humans.

Indeed, a person’s glory and honor depends on the level of his piety. And the servant closest to God Al-Aliy is the most devout servant. Glory does not lie in the position that is forgiven, let alone the lineage attached to it, but how much value our piety has before Allah ﷻ. Allah ﷻ says in one part of Surah Al-Hujurat,

The most noble person in the sight of Allah is the most pious person.

“Indeed, the most noble person in the sight of Allah ﷻ is the most pious person among you.” (QS. Al-Hujurat: 13)

The context of this verse is that Allah ﷻ explains that humans were created by Allah ﷻ with various ethnic groups. Then Allah ﷻ said that the noblest is not from tribe A or nation B, but the most devout among that tribe.

Imam Mufassir, Ath-Tabari God bless said,

The noblest person among you, O people, in the sight of your Lord is the one who is most devoted to Him by fulfilling His obligations and avoiding His sins. I am not the greatest among you in the family, and I am not the greatest among you in the tribe.

“Indeed, the most noble person among you – O people – is the one who has the highest devotion to Allah, namely by fulfilling various obligations and avoiding immorality. It is not the most noble person who is seen from his magnificent house or from his noble lineage.” (Tafsir Ath-Tabari, 21:386)

The same thing was said about the average para commentator, that the people with the highest status are essentially those who are most pious before Allah ﷻ.

And indeed Allah ﷻ created the potential for glory in humans, Allah ﷻ said,

We have created humans in the best conditions.

“Indeed, We have created humans in the best form.” (QS. At-Tin: 4)

However, Allah ﷻ continues the verse,

Then we return it to the two lower levels

“Then We returned him to the lowest place (hell).” (QS. At-Tin: 5)

What caused it? Because humans commit disobedience and disobedience to Allah ﷻ. However, Allah ﷻ provides a solution so that we do not fall from the most noble place to the abyss of hell. Allah ﷻ says,

Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds, their reward will be immeasurable.

“Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds, for them the reward will be endless.” (QS. At-Tin: 6)

Therefore, piety is an indicator that someone is noble or someone is humiliated.

The consequence of immorality is that one’s level is lowered

Ibnul Qayyim God bless said,

So if he disobeys him and disobeys his orders, then he will disappear from his sight, thereby keeping him away from the hearts of his servants.

“If a servant disobeys Allah ﷻ and disobeys His commands, then he is included in the punishment of Allah ﷻ. Allah ﷻ not only falls before Him, but also before His creatures.” (An Advertisement I did matter. 99; cet. Dar Luluah)

Then Allah ﷻ will humble the perpetrator of that sin. His relationship in society was made at the lowest level before Allah ﷻ because of his disobedience and his very bad condition.

Even Ibnul Qayyim said may Allah forgive him,

He has no purity, no joy, and no pleasure.

“There is no respect for him, no happiness and cheerfulness in the sinner.” (An Advertisement I did matter. 99; cet. Dar Luluah)

Therefore, a fall in dignity and position gives rise to all forms of anxiety, restlessness and sadness. There is no joy or cheer because honor has been thrown away. This is the impact of his bad character. Remember Pharaoh’s condition! Where he was praised by the people who supported him. However, when his disobedience peaked, Allah ﷻ punished him with humiliation and maintained his humiliation. Then how many people will criticize him until the end of time?!

That is disobedience!

Where does this pain compare with the pleasure of disobedience, if not the intoxication of lust?

If it weren’t for being intoxicated with lust, could the deliciousness of immorality be compared to that pain?!

May God bless the Great Qur’an for me and you and benefit me and you with the wise verses and dhikr it contains. I say this and I ask God for forgiveness for me and for you and for all Muslims for every sin, so ask Him for forgiveness. Indeed, He is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Second sermon

Praise be to Allah for His mercy, and thanks be to Him for His success and gratitude. I testify that there is no god but Allah alone, without partners, out of respect for Him. I testify that Muhammad is His servant and messenger who calls for His pleasure. O Allah, may peace and blessings be upon Muhammad and his family, friends and brothers.

The title of perpetrator of immorality is a bad title

Ibnul Qayyim God bless When explaining the bad impact, he didn’t say it lightly. He quoted the word of Allah ﷻ that the worst name after a believer is the name of a wicked person, Allah ﷻ said,

How evil is the name of immorality after faith.

“The worst calling is the wicked calling to faith.” (QS. Al-Hujurat: 11)

The context of this verse is that Allah ﷻ teaches people good manners so as not to call each other bad names. Because this call is a bad call and calling it out is tyrannical.

People who commit immoral acts automatically receive the title of immoral person, even though people do not know about it. However, this title is with Allah ﷻ Al-Alim Al-Khabir, who knows and the knowledge is so comprehensive. And if a human title that has no value in the afterlife becomes so despicable. Especially if the title is given by Allah ﷻ. Of course, the title of immoral person is enough to make us not want to commit immoral acts.

Remember! Whoever Allah ﷻ insults, no one can glorify him,

And whoever insults Allah has no one worthy of respect. Indeed, Allah does whatever He wills.

“Whoever Allah humiliates, no one can glorify him. Indeed, Allah does according to His will.” (QS. Al-Hajj: 18)

Indeed, Allah and His angels blessed the Prophet. O you who believe, bless him and grant him peace.

O Allah, forgive men and women who believe, men and women of Islam, the living and the dead

Our Lord, do not let our hearts stray after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from You. You are the Giver.

O Allah, show us the truth as truth and give us the ability to follow it, and show us falsehood as falsehood and enable us to avoid it.

O our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in the faith, and do not harbor hatred in our hearts towards those who believe. Our Lord, You are Most Gracious and Merciful.

Oh God, respect Islam and Muslims

O Allah, help our Muslim brothers and the mujahideen in Palestine.

O Allah, strengthen their faith, give peace to their hearts, and unite their ranks.

O Lord, destroy the disbelievers and polytheists.

O God, destroy the Jews, scatter them, and disperse them.

O our Lord, give us goodness in this world and goodness in the hereafter, and protect us from the torment of hellfire, and protect us from the torment of hellfire.

Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds

Wa Shallallahu ‘ala sayyidina Muhammadin wa ‘ala Analisi wa shahbihi ajmain. Akhirud da’wah ‘anilhamdulillahi rabbil ‘alamin.
