Story of Jihad Sheikh Islamic Ibn Taimiyah (Bag. 1)

Rabbani scholars are God’s servants Story at every time and circumstances. If he is in the mosque, then he is a teacher, giver, and a mentor. If there is in the pulpit, then it is a fluent and influential preacher. If he is on his way, then he always remembers God ‘Azza from Jalla, Call for good, prevent evil, or give advice. And if Jihad’s call comes out, it is the first to fulfill the call. If two teams fight, they are a brave, brave fighter and a formidable defender. If there is an empty place in the defense path, it is the first to fill it because it knows its priorities and how important it is.

Scholars also enter the lines, make students, elevate their enthusiasm, recite the verses about jihad, martyrs, and border care, and promise the victory that God has promised to them. This is the situation of Ibn Taimiyah.

His courage on the battlefield has become a story that is remembered by many people, both from those who are contemporary with him and those who write their biography. He faced death bravely when meeting enemies, and the warriors did not see it except after the battle was over. However, when the war took place, anyone who saw him would see him like a mighty lion who attacked dashing, moved swiftly, fighting against the enemy with courage, expecting martyr.

If he saw the troops weak, doubtful, or fear, he encouraged them, strengthening their hearts by reading the verses of jihad. Those who saw him fought and showed his courage were also excited. Tracing all the battles followed by Ibn Taimiyah and noting that all his courage is not an easy task. Even if it can be counted, record and summarize it will require a long writing. However, we can refer to some events that show their courage and firmness towards various enemies, which are as follows:

1) jihad and battle against the Tartar people;

2) jihad and battle against Christians;

3) His jihad against Rafidhah and other attackers. [1]

War against the tartar

One important event is his attitude towards King Tartar, Ghazan. In 699 AH, he and the delegation from the leading figures of Damascus went to meet the king. During the meeting, Ibn Taimiyah spoke firmly and loudly to Ghazan. His courage and firmness in conveying the truth became one of the factors that made the king not attack Damascus.

After the Tartar team left, the public was still afraid of the possibility of attacking them. Therefore, residents gather around the city walls to maintain and maintain their country. Every night, Ibn Taimiyah around them, strengthens their hearts, and instill strength in it.

Then, in 700 AH, news spread that Tartar troops would again attack Sham. Fear also hit the community. Many officials, nobles, and scholars who escaped. However, Ibn Taimiyah remained firm and sat in a large mosque (Jami Mosque ‘), igniting the spirit of jihad in the community, forbiding them to run, and encourage them to give you in the way of Allah.

When the news spread that the Sultan resigned from the war, Ibn Taimiyah immediately went on his journey to meet him. He went to Egypt to encourage the Sultan to keep struggling and strengthening his heart, and promised him victory from Allah ‘Azza Wa Jalla.

In a strong tone, he said to the Sultan, “If you turn away from Sham and not protect him, we will appoint a leader who will take care of him and in peace.” [2]

Ibn Taimiyah’s courage shines in his jihad in the 702 H shakhab war. He brought the spirit of jihad, strengthened the hearts of the Sultan, the commanders, and the soldiers, and promised them to victory. He came to the Caliph and Sultan in turn, nodded, and strengthened their mentalism.

Until finally, God bestowed victory to the Muslims. After that victory, Ibn Taimiyah’s position was higher in the eyes of the people and leaders. Everyone realizes his great virtue and role in winning the victory.

War against Christians

As for Jihad Ibn Taimiyah against the Christians, this was told by his student and friend, Al-Hafizh Al-Bazzar, based on the testimony of those who saw it directly. He said,

“They tell that they see extraordinary courage that is difficult to describe in the words in Ibn Taimiyah in the conquest of ‘Akka. They said,’ In fact, he was the main cause of the success of the Muslims in conquering the city, thanks to his actions and advice. ‘” [3]

Then, among the struggle of Ibn Taimiyah against the Christians was an event when Sultan Ghazan controlled the city of Damascus. At that time, King Karaj came to him and offered a lot of wealth in return so that he was given the opportunity to slaughter Muslims in Damascus.

When this news reached Ibn Taimiyah, he immediately rose without hesitation, encouraged the Muslims, encouraged them to achieve martyrd, and promised victory, security, and loss of fear. So, a number of figures and leaders from Damascus left with him to Sultan Ghazan.

When they arrived in front of the Sultan, he asked, “Who are they?”

Replied, “They are the leader of Damascus.”

Then the Sultan also allowed them to enter.

Ibn Taimiyah advanced first, and when Sultan Ghazan saw it, God instilled a lot of relief in his heart. The Sultan immediately approached him and welcomed him. Then, Ibn Taimiyah began to speak, rejecting the Sultan’s decision to give the strength of the King Karaj to kill Muslims. It also guarantees that he will gather property as a substitute for the offer of King Karaj, and remind the Sultan of Muslim blood.

With full wisdom, he advised and gave a warning to Sultan Ghazan. Finally, the Sultan accepted his advice voluntarily and canceled the plan. Thus, thanks to the struggle of Ibn Taimiyah, the blood of the Muslims was saved, their children were protected, and their honor was maintained. [4]

From this story, Jihad Ibn Taimiyah against Christians is not only a direct battle with a sword, but also a struggle through diplomacy, namely by thwarting their plans to slaughter Muslims through alliance with tartar troops.

Jihad against Rafidhah and the attackers

As for Jihad Ibn Taimiyah against the Rafidhah and the attackers, one of the events occurred in 704 H. At that time, he continued to fight with the determination of the people of the Kisrawan Mountains. He sent letters to various Syam regions, encouraged Muslims to fight them, and confirmed that this war was part of the jihad in the way of Allah.

Then, he himself led the team to attack the area, along with regional leaders (Sultan representatives) and the team. They continued to surround the Kisrawan people until God gave them victory. [5]

After Allah gave victory to Muslims, the Kisrawan people were expelled, their slander was extinguished, and they were forced to follow Islamic law in their speeches, actions, and confidence.
