A brief biography of Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani (bag. 2)


Ibn Hajar Creed

Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani is one of the priests that is influenced by faith. Many opinions in accordance with the fun faith, as found in one of his works, namely Fathul Bari. Some of the credo problems described by Al-Hafizh In his most prominent book are:

The attitude of the scholars to the fault of faith of IBN

Ad-da’am issuing fatwa related to this:

“Our attitude towards Abu Bakr al-Baqillani, Al-Baihaqi, Abu Al-Faraj Ibnul Jauzi, Abu Zakariya An-Nawawi, Ibn Hajar, and other scholars who have premises some of the traits of Allah Story or submit the meaning as a whole are:

They are a great Muslim scholar whose knowledge has benefited Muslims. May Allah bless them with broad grace and respect them with the best gifts for their service to us.

They are included in the Sunnah in matters in accordance with the teachings of the friends Radhiyallahu ‘anhum And the Salaf priests in the first three generations witnessed by the Prophet ﷺ as the best generation.

However, they have made mistakes in the sermon of the text of God and in terms of which overcome the understanding of the Salaf of these people and the priests of the Sunnah. Now that’s in nature behavior Dzatiyah (the attached nature of Daz from God), Fi’liyah (the nature related to God’s actions), or part of both.

Only for God we ask for mercy. Hopefully greetings and greetings are poured to our Prophet Muhammad, along with his family and friends. ” [1]

Sheikh Albani expressed his opinion about his attitude towards scholars who fell into Creed violations. He Rahimahullah said,

“Priests such as An-Nawawi and Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani, and other similar scholars, are not fair to say Ahul Bad’ah. I know that both are included in the Ash’ariyah sect, but they do not intend to overcome the Qur’an and Sunnah. Instead, they are confused in understanding the truth. They think that the fun faith they inherit is true, for two reasons:

1) They think that Imam Abu Al-Hasan al-Ash’ari remains in that belief, even though he has left him at the end of his life.

2) They think that beliefs are true, when in fact it is not the case.

May Allah bless the priest, An-Nawawi and Ibn Hajar, and forgive their mistakes. “

Sheikh Salih bin Fauzan, when asked about our attitude towards scholars who fell into trust, gave him so deep advice. He said,

“First: It is not appropriate for the prosecutors of beginner knowledge and also the layman to be busy in imposing heresy or fascic verdicts against others. This is a dangerous case, while they do not have enough knowledge and understanding in this matter. In addition, this can also cause hostility and hatred between them. Therefore, their obligation is to focus on studying, and maintaining their verbal from things that are not useful, especially those that bring muds for themselves and others.

Second: Bid’ah is something created in religion that is not part of it, as the Prophet said,

“Anyone who created something in our (religious) affairs that are not from him, he was rejected.” [2]

If someone does something that is contrary to religious teachings because of his ignorance, then he is forgiven because of his stupidity and is not immediately sentenced as a bid’ah. However, his actions are still considered as heresy.

Third: Ulama who have mistakes in ijtihad due to the premission of some of the traits of God, such as Ibn Hajar and An-Nawawi, should not be punished as Mubtadi ‘ (Actors of Bid’ah). What is said is that what they do is a mistake, but they are still expected to get forgiveness for these mistakes, because they have provided great services in serving Sunnah Rasulullah ﷺ.

They are both great and trusted priests among scholars. ” [3]

The positions and praise of the scholars

Ibn Hajar is very interested in poetry and poetry to reach the peak of membership in this field. He has many poetry works with print size. Then he turned to the hadith and heard many hadiths from the teachers. He also traveled to Yemen, hijaz, and other fields to study with scholars.

Ibn Hajar is known among the scholars in his time in terms of the science of hadith, both in writing and fatwa. Everyone, both close and far away, even enemies and friends, recognize memorization and perseverance. Until finally, title “Al-Hafiz” attached to his name as a consensus among the scholars.

Al-Hafiz As-Sakhawi said, “His teacher, al-Irak, testified that he was his most knowledgeable student about the hadith.”

Al-Hafiz As-Suyuthi said, “He is a priest in this field for those who follow him, the leaders of the hadith team, support their existence Tauhiyah And correct , Ta’dil And Tajrih (Evaluating the narrator of the hadith). “

When Al-Irak was about to die, some people asked him, “Who will replace you?” He replied, “Ibn Hajar, then my son Abu Zur’ah, then Al-Haitsami.”

Died

Imam Ibnu Hajar resigned from his position as Qadhi Al-Qudhat In 852 H and spent time writing, teaching, and attending the Science Council. In 11 of Zulkaidah that year, he fell ill, but still tried to go out to teach, endice prayers, and worship until his health was getting worse and unable to attend Iduladha prayers, even though he rarely left Friday prayers or pilgrims. When he felt his death was close, he visited one of his wives and apologized to him. The disease is getting worse until he is unable to do ablution, then pray while sitting, and stops doing Qiyamul Lail. Some scholars came to visit him, such as Ibn Ad-Dairi, Al-‘iaini, Ibn At-Tanisi, and As-Safti.

Ibnu Hajar died at 28 Zulhijah. His departure brought deep sorrow; The shops were closed, and his body was accompanied by a large procession that could only be equated with the funeral of Ibn Taimiyah. His student, As-Sakhawi, told that the number of people present at his funeral was only known by God. The ruler, ulama, officials, nobles, and important people carry their bodies.

As-Suyuthi quoted from Al-Mansuri that it rained when the body arrived at the prayer place even though it was not the rainy season. The body prayer was led by Al-Balqini with the permission of the Caliph at the Al-Mu’minin Mosque in the Ramliyyah area, and he was buried in the funeral of the Bani Khurubi, among the tombs of Imam Syafi’i and Muslim As-Sulami.
