Maybe we hate something, but it’s good for us
Living in this world is not always decorated with beauty. There are times when we have to walk the steep road and the burden that feels heavy to bear. We have failed in the plan that we compiled neatly. Never hoped, but never achieved. Ever loved, then lost. Never tried to survive, but still squeezed by difficulties that never stop.
Human instincts will rush to conclude: “This is bad. This is unfair.” Because humans really want everything to run smoothly, beautiful, and as expected. However, God-with His unlimited love and wisdom-sees everything from a broader perspective.
Allah Story said,
And hopefully you hate something, and it’s better for you ۚ and hopefully you love something and it’s evil for you
“But you might not like something, but it’s good for you, and you might like something, but it’s not good for you. God knows, you don’t know.” (Surah Al-Baqarah: 216)
This verse came down related to the orders of jihad and at that time the friends were heavy to carry it out because it would cause fatigue, loss of wealth, even their lives. Nevertheless, jihad is “pure good” which contains large rewards, martyred deaths, protection from oppression, independence, and worldly products (Ghanimah). (Look As-Sa’di’s interpretation, matter. 87)
In the other verse Allah Story said,
If you hate them, they will be humiliated
“Then if you don’t like them, (then be patient) because maybe you don’t like something, even though God makes him a lot of goodness.” (Surah An-Nisa: 19)
This second verse goes down related to the relationship in the household. When there is a husband who does not like his wife in one or some of his wife’s characteristics and habits (less beautiful, lack of cleanliness, less diligent, and for example), but it could be God will bestow a large gift from his wife. It could be that from his womb will be born Saleh children who are proud of him in the world and the hereafter.
Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam say,
Believers don’t rub believers, if he hates him from that, he is satisfied with it
“Don’t be a believer (husband) hates believers (wife). If the man does not like female morals, let him see the other side he does.” (HR. Muslim, no. 1469)
If someone finds his wife the thing he does not like and he hates, as long as he does not do the action Fahisyah (Adultery) and NUSYUZ (Defense), be patient with the disturbance and keep doing just to him because it could be like that is better for him. (Look Ahkam al-quur’an, 1: 487)
Al-Ghazali Rahimahullah said,
Patience for women from what first offended the saints
“Be patient from the words (painful) that comes out of the mouths of the wives is one of the trials of the saints.” (Hea ‘Surface Ad-Where, 2: 38)
There is wisdom behind the wound
The two verses above (QS. Al-Baqarah: 216 and QS. An-Nisa: 19) describe two aspects of life that are very different, but both contain tests: The first verse talks about jihad in the way of Allah, while the second verse touches the relationship of husband and wife in the household.
In jihad, what feels heavy is a physical test (pain, wound, even death). Whereas in the household, which is painful often inwardly (feelings of disappointment and expectations that are not met). However, God reminded that it could be something that we hate actually holds the good that we do not understand.
Both verses teach us that behind physical pain and emotional injuries, there are lessons that roll up the soul, there are wisdoms that beautify life, and exist Mahabbah God always joins every step of his patience.
God who knows everyone wants to convey the same message in both words: “You might hate something, but it’s good for you.” Sometimes, the bitter one at the beginning is the path to the end of the sweet taste. Sometimes, tears today are the reasons for a smile in the future.

The true story of God’s wisdom towards His servants
One of the true stories of God’s great wisdom to his servants is the story of Ms. Musa, who lives in the power of Pharaoh. Afraid that Pharaoh’s fear loses his strength, he ordered his troops so that every baby was born to be slaughtered.
Because Mother Moses was afraid and worried about the fate of his son, God inspired him that he would bring down Moses into the river. Isn’t Musa’s most feared mother falling into Pharaoh’s hands? But that’s what happened, his son was stranded in the Pharaoh Palace and he was treated lovingly by Pharaoh’s wife.
When he was sought and hugged Moses, no one was chosen (liked) Moses except his own mother. Then his mother finally lived with Moses in peace in the Pharaoh Palace.
God returned the child to his mother’s lap in an unimaginable way, which was originally the most dangerous and feared place, it became the safest place.
Look at how when God is predestined something that initially seemed not liked by humans, but there was a great good behind it. Allah Ta’ala said,
And we refer to Mother Moses to breastfeed, so if you are afraid of her, then throw it on that day, and don’t be afraid, and don’t be sad, but the person who will see it.
“And we inspired Ms. Moses,” milk; And when you are worried about him, then drop him to the river. And don’t worry and don’t be sad, because surely we will bring it back to you, and make it (one) from the apostles. “(Surah Al-Qashash: 7)
Not everything that hurts is bad and not everything is good. The best measure is what God must do and determine.
What we consider to be a disaster, could be a guard from bad. What is painful, it could be a path to greater goodness. Because God, with all His tenderness, is never wrong in measuring.
Hopefully this short article will be a reminder for all of us.
Oh God, make among patients, and we are satisfied with what is divided for us, and bless us in any case
“O Allah, make us including those who are patient, Rida with all your resolutions, and bless us in every situation.”
